On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was questioned about her husband’s suspicious stock trades. It was the only question that she took during the question and answer portion of her presser. She could not get out of there fast enough.

“Has your husband ever made a stock purchase or sale based on information received from you?” a reporter asked.

Speaker Pelosi said, “No, absolutely not.”

People quickly reacted on Twitter chastising her for the obvious deflection.

“Oof, can anyone view this and come way thinking there’s no smoke her?” said Chris Casey on Twitter.

Another person clarified that “insider trading is ok for Congress in the US.”

Nancy’s husband Paul Pelosi purchased $5 million in stock options in a computer chip manufacturer Nvidia ahead of legislation last week that will give 52 billion in subsidies to chip-manufacturers in the United States, according to financial disclosures from the couple.

The Daily Caller reported that on June 17, 2020, he purchased 20,000 shares worth between $1 million to $5 million.

The Speaker was planning to visit Taiwan next month, according to sources at Politico. It’s the first visit since Newt Gingrich went 25 years ago.

Biden spoke out against the trip saying it will increase tensions in the region with China. Beijing also does not want Pelosi to visit since they consider Taiwan to be part of mainland China. The US has a policy of strategic indifference towards the island.
