Heroes can come from any walk of life. It just takes a selfless and courageous person. For some children whose house caught on fire while their parents were on a date night, that person came in the form of a 25-year-old man who delivers pizza for a living. And he may just be a real-life superhero.
Twenty-five-year-old Nicholas Bostic, who works as a pizza delivery person, was driving around midnight recently in Lafayette, Indiana when he noticed a house that was on fire. He pulled into the driveway, ran to the back door, and started yelling. Then he went inside.
“I saw the fire on the balcony so I slammed on the brakes, pulled in the driveway, and ran into the house from the back. I was hollering ‘Is there anybody in there?” he told Fox 59.
With the oldest child, who is 18, he helped get three other children out. But then he learned that the six-year-old sibling was still inside. So he went back in and got her out, too.
Bostic said he heard the 6-year-old crying and made his way through the heavy smoke to find her. After he located her, he said he ran up the stairs where he remembered seeing a room with a window. He broke the glass with his bare hand and jumped out the window with the child, getting them both out, alive. By the time Bostic got the six-year-old out, the entire house was engulfed in flames.
“It started to get hard to see, because the smoke was getting bad. I don’t know how to explain it, but it was like I accepted I was going to probably die, right there, that night. But it was a weird calm. You just got to work as fast as you can,” he told the Based in Lafayette, Indiana Substack.
Bostic had to be airlifted to the hospital and placed on a ventilator. He also suffered injuries to his arm, hands and legs.
It’s never advised to enter a burning building unless you are a firefighter. At the same time, thank God for Bostic, who saved all of those children while risking his own life. What would you do if you came upon a house that was on fire?
