Executives at CNN are allegedly making moved to steal MSNBC’s resident conservative star, Joe Scarborough, and his co-host wife, Mika Brzezinski.

The revelation came about after a source close to the deal spoke to RadarOnline to discuss the potential grab.

According to the source, the decision came directly from CNN’s new CEO Chris Licht. Licht has pushed to make CNN less liberal-biased by adding more conservative voices and perspectives to his growing roster.

“When CBS hired Chris, he wanted to hire Joe and Mika to head up his morning show instead of Gayle King. Joe and Mika were into it, but they couldn’t get out of their deal with NBC,” the source told the digital paper.

The source continued, “Now Chris is pulling the same trick again as he starts his new job at CNN hoping this time, he will be able to pull it off.”

While “Morning Joe”, Scarborough’s current show, is not nearly as popular as “FOX and Friends” which shares its timeslot, it’s considered important to beltway liberals and even some moderates who can be very influential in elections.

Despite the interest, however, the source said that MSNBC is likely to fight tooth-and-nail to keep the two hosts in their current contracts.

“It is unlikely MSNBC will let them out of their contract, but Chris is a patient man,” the source said.

It’s possible that Licht could try and lure Joe and Mika to CNN by promising them one or even multiple prime time slots. The new CNN boss has signaled an interest in replacing the network’s less-successful primetime hosts with new talents and new shows.

The internet was full of rumors as well.

Do you think Brzezinski and Scarborough would be good additions to CNN? Could you see it helping the network if they replaced more liberal anchors like Brian Stelter or Don Lemon with either of them?
