President Joe Biden’s new cyber defense deputy Camille Stewart claims that “systemic racism” is the top threat to U.S. cybersecurity – despite increasing attacks by foreign adversaries such as Russia, Iran, and China.
She’s a former Google strategist who Biden nominated to become the White House deputy national cyber director and she believes “our #NatSec apparatus must be a part of dismantling systemic racism.” She also says that the top security focus of the Biden administration is to stop “anti-racist and anti-hate policy outcomes.”
Here’s Stewart at the 1:45 mark discussing the deaths of George Floyd in a series called #sharethemicincyber.
The Biden administration has previously been accused by Conservatives of being more focused on race than defense despite the fact that Russia, Iran, and China have been increasing their cyberattacks on the US and our allies.
Last month, the Department Of Justice said they are preparing for attacks from these enemies. In June, the Next News Network reported that the FBI stopped an Iranian-based cyberattack against a Boston Children’s Hospital that could have killed hundreds of innocent children. Russian hackers also went after an American company in Ukraine in 2022 as well.
Stewart was a policy adviser for the Department of Homeland Security during the Obama administration and has previously called America a systemically racist society on Twitter.
“Business case made yet again for eradicating Systemic #Racism: U.S. Economy Lost $16 Trillion b/c Of Racism against Black Americans in a range of areas, including in education & access to business loans,” she wrote in 2020.
She’s also tweeted, “I HOPE THIS REINFORCES YOU ALL DOING THE WORK TO ERADICATE HATE & BIOGTRY. SYSTEMIC RACISM WILL RUIN THIS DEMOCRACY. AMERICA, I HOPE YOU ARE READY!!”
In 2020, she wrote a column for the Council of Foreign Relations in which she argued that ” cybersecurity challenges will never reach their full potential until systemic racism is addressed and diverse voices are reflected among our ranks at all levels.”

Stewart also wrote another piece in The Hill saying Biden must combat racism by building it into “leadership priorities, processes, structures, and domestic and international strategy.”
Republicans have opposed Biden’s recent hires because of their obsession with race and Stewart is no exception.
The White House put out a statement after her hire saying she was “regarded as not only an expert but also as an inspiration, especially to women and underrepresented minorities.”
The Biden administration should focus on hiring the best person for the job not someone based on their race and ethnicity. This is national defense we are talking about and it’s in the emerging sector of cybersecurity where we are starting to get regular attacks from. Do you think fighting racism or protecting all the races of people that live in America from cyberattacks is more important?
