Former President Donald Trump seemingly began to set out his agenda for the 2024 election cycle during a speech to the America First Institute in Washington, DC.
Donald Trump was making his first appearance in Washington since leaving office on January 19, 2021. Speaking to the pro-MAGA crowd, the ex-president wasted little time setting out his 2024 goals including mass camps for the homeless on the edge of cities and the death penalty for anyone caught dealing drugs.
Trump was talking about the crime wave that has plagued liberal cities like DC in recent years following a push for cashless bail by woke liberal district attorneys. He lamented the deaths caused by crime, especially drugs like fentanyl.
“The penalties should be very, very severe. If you look at countries throughout the world, the ones that don’t have a drug problem are ones that institute a very quick trial death penalty sentence for drug dealers,” the former leader noted.
“It sounds horrible, doesn’t it? But you know what? That’s the ones that don’t have any problem. It doesn’t take 15 years in court. It goes quickly, and you absolutely — you execute a drug dealer, and you’ll save 500 lives,” he said as a suggestion on how to reduce crime.
Trump, who lived in Manhattan and enjoyed the elite liberal social circles for most of his life before running for office, also talked about the damage that homelessness has done to the development of these major metropolises.
The outspoken businessman suggested that the solution wasn’t to simply destroy the homeless camps, but to instead build large, government maintained camps on the edge of major cities and move them all out there so they don’t interfere directly with daily life.
“Open up large parcels of inexpensive land in the outer reaches of the city,” the realty mogul suggested. “Create thousands and thousands of high quality tents.’
Trump said it was the “only way you’re going to remove the hundreds of thousands of people, and maybe throughout our nation millions of people. It can be done in one day.”
Donald Trump has recently been teasing his 2024 reelection bid, suggesting he may announce early to avoid a potentially close race between him and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Do you think his new policy pitch will help propel him to victory or will it open the door for stiffer competition?
