Democrat Party Leader Runs Over Bicyclist On Camera

A New Jersey Democrat party leader was caught on camera running over a bicyclist at high speeds before fleeing the scene with no concern for her victim.

Amy DeGise, a New Jersey councilwoman and chairwoman of Hudson County Democrats, is facing pressure to resign from her posts after she was caught on a traffic camera plowing through a random biker before speeding away from the site of the incident.

In the video, bicyclist Andrew Black can be seen pulling up through an intersection at Forrest and Martin Luther King Drive and crossing while there is seemingly no traffic coming. Suddenly, a black Nissan Rogue driven by DeGise pulls into view, rushing straight through the same intersection and straight into Black.

You can then see Black flying into the air, across the hood of her car, and hitting the ground hard while the Democrat councilwoman drives onward.

In defense of DeGise, it is clear in the video that Black had run a red light and that DeGise had the right of way. Still, her decision to flee the scene of the crime is still a major issue.

Another video shows Black as police arrive to check on him after the hit. The bicyclist got extremely lucky, saying he had only sustained minor cuts and bruises to his arm and leg.

“Someone of prestige would fall to the point where they would ignore the law,” Black told HudPost, adding that he had just completed and Uber Eats delivery when he was hit.

The bicyclist also told CBS News that he has been unable to work since being hit and the DeGise has still not reached out to him.

One of DeGise’s fellow council people, James Solomon, told NBC New York that he signed a petition urging the young Democrat leader to resign.

Solomon said, “The word I use is horrified, that’s how I felt watching the video. She’s an elected official and we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard and that’s why I think she should resign.”

While Black should not have run that stop light and did put himself at risk by doing so, the fact that an elected official could do something like that and then leave the scene is concerning. Do you think DeGise will be treated the same as a pedestrian who had done the same thing? Should she apologize?
