The Idaho Supreme Court recently decided to not block their states trigger law, when ROE V WADE was overturned. 

In a recent Supreme Court decision in Idaho, the court decided to allow the state’s trigger laws to take effet and virtually end abortion in that state.

Townhall writes. This week, the Idaho Supreme Court decided not to block a law that would ban nearly all abortions beginning on August 25. 

Additionally, it blocked a second law that will take effect on August 19 that bans abortion at six weeks of pregnancy or when a heartbeat is first detected. New abortion law makes it illegal unless it’s needed to save a pregnant woman’s life or if the pregnancy was caused by rape or incest.  Those who perform abortions will face up to five years in prison, and those who help assist the procedure will lose their licenses. 

Following the Roe v Wade decision a number of states had trigger laws that would either outright ban abortion or place a severe restriction on abortion. 

NPR states. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, abortion is now illegal or heavily restricted in at least 14 states. At least nine other states have laws that ban or severely restrict abortion access quickly. It includes states with near-total bans on abortion and states with bans after the detection of fetal cardiac activity, roughly at six weeks gestation.

Courts are currently blocking some of these laws while legal challenges are being heard. Older laws in some states leave abortion’s current legal status unclear. There are several additional states that do not appear here that have pre-viability gestational age restrictions, ranging from 15 to 22 weeks. There is also a possibility that some states will pass laws that outlaw abortion completely in the future.

All across the country courtroom battles are raging and children’s lives are at stake. The Roe v Wade decision kicked the decision regarding abortions back to the states to decide. Now each state is making its stance known, decisively.
