Here we go again, the NBA is injecting itself into the election process. In this video, we’ll be discussing the NBA’s recent announcement that they will not be holding any games on election day in order to encourage fans to get out and vote. Hey guys, Gary Franchi here, it’s been a big week for news and the NBA has just announced something that’s sure to cause some controversy. Let’s take a closer look at why they made this decision and what kind of impact it could have.
The NBA has a long and storied history of injecting itself into popular culture as well as our politics as a nation. Now the NBA is set to inject itself into the 2022 midterm elections as they are making some pretty bold announcements.
Daily wire writes. It has been announced by NBA Communications that there will be no games on November 8 to reinforce the importance of voting on Election Day. All 30 NBA teams will play a game on the day before Election Day in addition to the no-game on Election Day. According to a report from MSNBC News, the games will be themed around elections.
The NBA has previously had plans for polling locations at stadiums in the 2020 election. But thats not the only time that the league has injected itself into politics.
Daily wire reports. During the 2020 election, the NBA and its players’ union used arenas as polling places as part of their agreement to resume playoffs.
I’m sure many more Americans will stop watching sports after learning this. I find it unfortunate that football teams, basketball teams, and hockey teams have become social justice warriors. The reason people love sports is because it’s about individuals competing against one another based on their skill sets, not because of their politics. The NBA still doesn’t seem to understand that.
