A 9/11 remembrance museum just shut its doors permanently, after suffering massive financial losses due to the pandemic.
A day that will live for an eternity. 9/11 was a tragic and solidifying day for every American, regardless of race, religion, or creed. Now one of the major remembrance museums that has artifacts and testimonials from survivors will no longer be available to the public.
Daily wire reports. Manhattan’s 9/11 memorial museum shut its doors permanently Wednesday afternoon, citing financial losses from the COVID pandemic shutdowns. It was impossible for the museum’s founding group, the September 11th Families’ Association, to get out of debt from its lease because revenue was not returning to pre-pandemic levels.
The museum still has some resources for people who want to be educated on this tragic American day.
Cnn writes. “For over a decade the Tribute Museum has shared educational resources for teachers and students online, reaching classrooms around the world with personal stories,” CNN said. “The Association is proud to continue its mission with its focus now being on an online, interactive engagement with the 9/11 community.”
Those of us who were alive in 2001 can remember exactly every detail of where we were when we learned of the attacks. It is a fact of our collective lives we will never forget. We will never forget the firemen running into the buildings to save lives knowing that the buildings will collapse on them. We will always remember when the skies were empty in the days that followed. We will remember that on the following day every American was proud to be American and we rose together as a nation, as one. We will remember as our soldiers went off to fight, and bring justice to those who hurt our brothers and sisters. We will never forget those same soldiers we buried, who fought for our justice. I hope the museum gets the money back to re-open so the education of future generations can happen… and maybe someday they’ll figure out where that Thermite came from.
