This week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis released a campaign advertisement that gave off Presidential vibes.
In the “Top Gun” inspired advertisement, DeSantis paints himself as a fighter and the top guy to go after corporate media that poses a threat to our freedom and democracy.
DeSantis’ ad even got the attention of FOX News, where on an episode of “Outnumbered,” one of the hosts championed that DeSantis is “Fully awake to the threats that we face” unlike some other Republicans. The other hosts pointed out that if DeSantis did have any intentions for running for President, he should wait until after Trump’s reign is over.
If President Trump commits to running for a second term in 2024, Governor DeSantis wouldn’t stand a chance. But there is no question that DeSantis is hedging and positioning himself as a strong candidate. DeSantis has already proven himself to be a popular Governor with a strong base of support, and if he can capitalize on that support, he could easily be a top-tier candidate for the 2024 GOP nomination. Only time will tell, but as it stands all signs point to Trump running in 2024. Whether DeSantis will be able to hold off the challenge from Trump, is another question. But one thing is for sure: the race for the 2024 GOP nomination just got a lot more interesting.
