CHIRAQ: Lightfoot's $1M Anti-Gun Hotline Backfires in a Huge Way

So much for that million dollar anti-gun hotline. Just a year after it was launched, Lightfoot’s hot line has completely blown up in her face.

Introduction: It’s been one year since Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot decided to launch a million dollar hotline to help curb the city’s gun violence. But instead of making a difference, the hot line has done nothing but cause headaches for taxpayers. Come with me as we take a closer look at this epic fail.

In addition to being a self-proclaimed superhero, Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot is a failure at everything else, including stopping violence. It was announced in 2021 that Lightfoot would initiate a tip line to prevent gun violence, but it hasn’t turned out how she planned.

Western Journal reports. In July 2021, Chicago’s Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot promoted a gun tip hotline that she funded with one million dollars from the city’s budget to reward people who take a bite out of crime.

One year after the program began, only a small number of tips have been verified and rewarded. The Chicago Tribune reports that only about .01 percent – $10,395 – of the one million-dollar fund has been paid out to tipsters.

In July of last year, Lightfoot made a lot of noise over her tipster program declaring,  “I want you to know that I recognize that people are scared, people all over the city. This is the topic of conversation,”

Chicago FOP president John Cantanzara had a few words to say to Lightfoot as well.

Gun violence continues to rage across the city, and some politicians are calling Chicago a hellhole regardless of the soft on crime tactics implemented by Lightfoot.

Chicago Suntimes reported on a Tweet from Lightfoot saying “Chicago is no hellhole, but the Bailey campaign sure is a dumpster fire.”

While speaking at a GOP rally during the Illinois State Fair, Bailey again attacked Chicago and its Democratic leadership for failing to address crime and other issues. He is running against incumbent Gov. Jelly Bean Pritzker in the general election.

A reporter asked Bailey Thursday whether most Chicagoans, who account for more than 20% of Illinois’ overall population, actually view their home as a “hellhole,” Bailey replied, “Actually, I believe they do. … Because it’s unsafe.”

Bailey’s campaign also responded to Lightfoot’s tweet with links to Chicago crime news stories. An additional tweet, quoting the mayor, calls Lightfoot, Pritzker, Foxx “the three blind mice of crime, corruption, and chaos.”

Well, that was a spectacular failure. 1 million dollars down the drain in an effort to stop crime and violence in Chicago, and all we got was another year of bloodshed on our streets. In a Hell Hole of a city, democrat mayors and democrat governors have done little to end crime. Congratulations, Mayor Lightfoot! You’ve really outdone yourself this time. It’s time for you to resign in shame and let someone else try to fix your mess.
