Jeff Bezos is at it again!
Newsmax reports, As a result of a social media post about McDonald’s, Jeff Bezos was widely criticized for trying to appear relatable.
Over the weekend, Amazon CEO and multibillionaire Jeff Bezos tweeted a photo of himself eating a McDonald’s burger, along with a reminder that the fast-food chain was where he once worked. Yahoo has more.
Bezos tweeted, “My first job. And still the same great burger. Happy Sunday!”
It generated hundreds of thousands of likes from people who found it inspirational, but was also criticized and mocked by thousands.
Another Twitter user remarked on Bezos’ post, “Must suck realizing all the money in the world can’t make you cool or interesting,”
Another person commented, “Wow. Your parents let you work at McD’s even though they were rich and would later stake your business?”
Bezos was also criticized for enforcing strict bathroom breaks at Amazon warehouses, and other poor working conditions.
“How can someone who flipped burgers grow into a man who lives to scale sub-standard working conditions and sleep at night?” a Twitter user questioned.
A YouTuber added, “You’re proper normal! Just like us mate. Bet it’s great to work for your company!”
Business reporter Darren Rovell defended Bezos by comparing his wage at the time to his current wealth.
According to NewsWeek he said, “Jeff Bezos was paid $3.10 an hour for his work at McDonald’s as a 16-year-old. Today: Jeff Bezos Net Worth: $155 Billion. McDonald’s Market Cap: $188 Billion,”
In 1980, Bezos began working at McDonald’s at the age of 16 according to Cody Teets for her book “Golden Opportunity: Remarkable Careers That Began at McDonald’s.”
According to Business Insider Bezos said, “I was a grill man and never worked the cash registers. The most challenging thing was keeping everything going at the right pace during a rush,”
Bezos added: “The manager at my McDonald’s was excellent. He had a lot of teenagers working for him, and he kept us focused even while we had fun.”
Swing and a miss for Jeff Bezos. Who knew eating a burger would get you in so much hot water. Try again next time Jeff.
