WOW! GOP Candidate Ends Career With UNEXPECTED Statement Siding With Pro-Abortion Dems

The abortion debate has been one of the top issues among politicians, especially after the Supreme Court overturning of Roe v Wade. The debate is specifically picking up traction in Washington between two senatorial candidates and the Republican made comments that might surprise you.

This one is pretty wild.

According to TownHall. Washington’s Republican senatorial candidate said in an interview on Sunday that she supports a law that allows abortions up to viability.

Tiffany Smiley made the comment while speaking to CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.” During the interview, Bash pressed Smiley on her view on a 1991 state law that allows abortions until the fetus is viable, generally around 23-24 weeks.

Specifically, Washington’s abortion law says that the state cannot deny or interfere with a pregnant woman’s right to have an abortion prior to viability of the fetus.

According to Smiley, she opposes a federal ban on abortion. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said a national abortion ban is “possible.”

According to Smiley’s campaign ads, she is “pro-life,” but she does not support a federal ban.

She echoed these same points in other campaign ads.

Smiley is challenging Democratic Sen. Patty Murray, who supports abortion. After the SCOTUS overturned Roe, she said “Republicans dragged this country backwards by half a century” and “ripped away our rights.”

She added, “Every American needs to understand that this is a real crisis that will affect millions of people across this country,” “But we aren’t going to stand idly by while they rip away abortion rights, or go after birth control next.”

In the Supreme Court’s majority opinion, the justices wrote that the U.S. Constitution does not protect the right to abortion and that Roe and Casey were on a “collision course” the days they were decided

It’s surprising to see a Republican take such a stance and defend herself against taking a picture with Donald Trump. Only time will tell if these stances will help or hurt her. We’ll be paying attention to this election, make sure you get all the updates here at NextNewsNetwork.
