CBP Issues Apology After Retweeting Controversial Tweet

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued an apology after retweeting a former top Trump official slamming Biden’s Border policies.

Just a short while ago, they retweeted a tweet from Donald Trump’s former deputy assistant slamming Joe Biden’s Border policies. Needless to say, Leftists are not happy about this and CBP is receiving a lot of backlash on social media.

Biden is not going to be happy when he sees this.

The Daily Wire Reports. Over the weekend, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued an apology statement after an official CBP Twitter account promoted tweets criticizing the Biden administration.

Over the weekend, CBP West Texas’ official Twitter account retweeted two tweets from former Trump senior adviser Stephen Miller.

The first Tweet read. “Violent criminals lay waste to our communities undisturbed while the immense power of the state is arrayed against those whose only crime is dissent,” “The law has been turned from a shield to protect the innocent into a sword to conquer them.”

The second read. “The media’s greatest power is its ability to frame what is a dire national crisis (eg ‘cops are racist’ summer ‘20) and what is not,” “Biden’s eradication of our border means we are no longer a Republic—he’s ended nearly 250 years of constitutional government. The media is silent.”

Left-wing activist Adam Isacson expressed outrage online, writing: “This is one of the most egregious examples I’ve ever seen of a US federal law enforcement agency defying elected political leadership in official communications.”

While the left may be offended by these tweets, they couldn’t be more accurate. Take a look at this report from Fox’s Bill Melugin.

Earlier Saturday night, CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus released a statement calling the tweets “offensive.” He added that “this must not happen again.”

No where in Magnus’ tweet or his official statement did he state that Miller’s remarks were in any way false or misleading.

In an official statement, Magnus added: “U.S. Customs and Border Protection has become aware of unauthorized and inappropriate content that was posted to the @CBPWestTexas Twitter account.”

The statement continued, “CBP will take action to deactivate the account and has referred the matter to the Office of Professional Responsibility to investigate,”. “The tweets do not reflect the values of this administration and our work to rebuild a humane, orderly, and secure immigration system.”

The CBP West Texas Twitter account found itself in the middle of a firestorm over the weekend after it retweeted two tweets from former Trump senior adviser Stephen Miller. The first tweet criticized the administration’s immigration policies and the second highlighted rising crime rates in U.S. cities. While many people were outraged at the retweets, others defended them as simply pointing out Biden’s failures. I’m glad CBP had the balls to hit the retweet button but disappointed they caved into leftist outrage and apologized. It’s unfortunate that simply sharing facts is such a controversial act but someone needs to point out just how bad things have gotten under Biden’s watch. Let’s hope they continue to make mistakes like this in the future.
