Democrats are coming for each others throats.
According to The Washington Examiner, Rep. Elissa Slotkin called for new leadership in the House Democratic conference.
During a CNN interview Friday, Slotkin also suggested that new leadership come from outside California or New York.
These suggestions come as poll tracker FiveThirtyEight predicts her party will lose its majority in the House 71 times out of 100.
Nancy Pelosi represents San Francisco, while Hakeem Jeffries represents parts of Brooklyn. Jeffries is widely believed to be Pelosi’s top choice to replace her as speaker. Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee who represents the Los Angeles area, is also thought to be interested in replacing Pelosi.
Pelosi recently shifted her position on Congress members trading stocks, alluding to new, bipartisan legislation that was recently introduced. Her previous argument was that she did not want to interfere with the free market economy. Slotkin shared her thoughts on this shift during that same interview.
In Michigan’s 8th Congressional District, Slotkin is also up for reelection after running unopposed in the Democratic primary. Tom Barrett, who ran unopposed in the Republican primary, will face her in November.
