The California Governor is absolutely livid over the criticism he’s getting for his state’s energy grid problems. Now, he is running to CNBC to try and one-up one of the comments Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said about his state last week. Spoiler alert: it didn’t go well for Newsom.
The Democratic governor of California Gavin Newsom is defending the state’s energy situation after the state narrowly avoided rolling blackouts.
The Daily Wire writes, California didn’t issue rolling blackouts when intense heat recently hit the state, according to Newsom. During high demand, he chastised allegations that the state could not maintain power.
During the heatwave, California’s power demand reached 52,000 megawatts, a record amount, according to Newsom. According to him, California’s efforts to switch to clean energy quickly have added 4,000 megawatts to the electric grid.
He said the media “wished” power had been cut because they wanted to kill California’s green energy transition due to high temperatures.
This comes after, as we previously reported, Governor DeSantis went after California’s power grid problems last week, saying, “They can’t even keep the power on in California. I mean, are you kidding me?”
Governor Newsom can argue all he wants on TV, but everybody saw the notice sent out to Californians that asked them to rserve power by not charging electric vehicles and other power-necessary activities past 4pm. If the state really wants to achieve their goals of forcing people to drive EVs by 2035, they need to fix their grid problems FAST instead of running to the media and try to cover up the problems.
