Alec Baldwin pays a settlement in a lawsuit the family of slain cinematographer he killed.

After a fatal shooting on a hollywood set Alec Baldwin took to the media to proclaim his innocence, and even made some statements that the FBI proved false. Now he was sued by the victims family.

Actor Alec Baldwin has settled a lawsuit filed by the family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed when Baldwin shot her on the set of his movie “Rust.” The settlement terms have not been released. The incident took place nearly one year ago on October 21, 2021. Hutchins was fatally show and director Joel Souza was wounded in the incident after Baldwin fired the weapon, which was loaded with a live round instead of a blank. 

Baldwins attorney said in a statement, “ Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained the specific desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son, We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation.”

Matthew Hutchins, relative of Halyna said on Wednesday morning: “We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed.”

This follows a recent finding by the FBI.

An FBI forensic report obtained Friday found that the gun used in the “Rust” shooting could not have been fired without pulling the trigger. Baldwin shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins last year while producing and starring in the Western. Despite believing he was handling a “cold gun,” a live bullet struck Hutchins and killed her. Also wounded in the shooting was the film’s director, Joel Souza. The FBI report shows that the firearm used in the shooting, a .45 Long  Colt caliber F.lli Pietta single-action revolver, could not have fired without the trigger being pulled. According to the report, the gun could not fire without a trigger pull with the hammer in the quarter- and half-cock positions. The report stated that as long as the working internal components were intact and functional, the gun could not be fired without pulling the trigger with the hammer fully cocked.

Well it is not an admission of guilt when it comes to murder, but the optics of Baldwin paying out an undisclosed amount in a settlement does look like guilt. Cannot wait to see what the criminal investigation finds on this case, and when they do we will be among the first to report.
