As the city of Minneapolis further devolves into chaos after the George Floyd riots that sparked a massive movement to defund police, it appears they are crying for more police officers.

Daily caller writes.

Minneapolis is having a tough time restaffing its police force amid a crime wave after officers left en masse following the May 2020 killing of George Floyd, according to the Daily Caller.

Then-Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said the department lost almost 300 officers by October 2021 to causes including retirement, resignation and disability leave for claimed post-traumatic stress disorder following Floyd’s death and large-scale protests, according to Newsweek. The department has reportedly seen applicant numbers drop from 292 in 2019 to 57 this year, with its September graduating recruiting class only featuring six people, according to Daily Caller.

The Minneapolis City Council voted in December 2020 to reallocate millions in funding from the police department to violence prevention and community initiatives. However, it voted in February 2021 to avail $6.4 million in funding toward police recruitment, according to the Star Tribune.

This news comes shortly after residents of Minneapolis sued the city for not having enough cops.

CBS news reports. A ruling from the Minnesota Supreme Court says that the city must uphold its charter and employ a minimum of 731 police officers, a number the city has been below for many months in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and civil unrest after the murder of George Floyd.

This ruling comes after eight Northside residents sued the city, citing high levels of violent crime and a lack of police officers. They argued the gun violence, carjackings and break-ins were impacting their daily lives.

Lets Watch.

Why should police return when the woke mob is still demanding they not be there? It’s not safe for them and it’s not safe for residents. The woke are ruining the city and residents don’t deserve to be unsafe because of it. Police are not all bad – there are many who want to help and serve their community. But the woke mob doesn’t want to hear that, they only want to defund and disarm the police. Well, if that’s what they want, then they can deal with the consequences. I hope they’re happy with the results.
