Luke Bryan’s fans cheered Friday night as he brought Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) on stage to promote the state’s recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian.
The Daily Wire reports, Hurricane Ian forced Bryan to postpone several times his concert in Jacksonville, Florida, as part of his ‘Raised Up Right’ tour.
As DeSantis walked on stage and tossed hats into the crowd, loud cheers greeted him.
DeSantis then gave some remarks, with the crowd chanting in response, “USA! USA!”
DeSantis later thanked Luke Bryan on Twitter, writing: “Thanks for letting me crash the party last night, @lukebryan!”
As expected, the radical left went after Luke Bryan for appearing alongside Ron DeSantis.
Bryan ended up addressing the criticism on his Twitter account.
“I understand that Governor DeSantis is a very polarizing figure,” Bryan wrote in a statement on Twitter. “But I grew up in a country where if a governor ask you if they can come and raise awareness to help victims of a natural disaster you help.”
The singer and American Idol judge went on to say that he doesn’t typically “respond to stuff when I’m getting run down on social media” and has “generally stayed out of politics throughout my career” before defending his decision to have the governor at his show, arguing it raised money for Hurricane Ian relief.
“I knew people would chatter about this but for me the more important piece was if I am going to go back there a few weeks after a large portion of people have been affected by a natural disaster in a state where people have been good to me this felt right,” Bryan wrote. “This is all I am saying about this. I’ll be outdoors with my boys. Enjoy your Sunday. Love y’all.”
At the end of his statement, Bryan included a phone number for his 9.3 million followers to donate to.
It’s clear from the videos we played in this report that Luke Bryan’s fans were very happy that he brought Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on stage to promote the state’s recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian. As DeSantis walked on stage and tossed hats into the crowd, loud cheers greeted him. As expected, however, the radical left went after Luke Bryan online for appearing alongside Ron DeSantis. Leftists have made it clear that they don’t care about hurricane victims, they only want to score political points. I bet if Luke Bryan brought California Governor Gavin Newsom on the stage, there would be absolutely no push back online. The double standard is real.
