The fact that Donald Trump likes to plan ahead is no secret. The president has announced he’s already thinking about his pick for vice president in 2024. Let’s take a look at who he’s already considering.
Conservative Brief reports, From his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, former President Donald Trump is expected to make a big announcement tonight. An announcement about his vice presidential running mate will be made very soon, following his big announcement.
For a 2024 presidential bid, Trump appears to be narrowing down the list of possible running mates not named Mike Pence, and one new name has emerged.
The New York Times Magazine’s Robert Draper reports that Trump is seriously considering Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene.
According to Draper, Trump has seriously discussed Greene as a potential VP since February, and while he may have considered others, Greene’s loyalty may propel her to the top.
Even Democrat pundit David Packman has taken notice.
According to previous reports, Greene is not the only female Republican lawmaker Trump is considering. New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, currently the party’s No. 3 ranking member, has been the subject of several recent reports.
CNN reported in late May that Stefanik was likely a frontrunner.
A number of Trump advisers, past and present, have privately said the New York Republican, who replaced Rep. Liz Cheney as the House’s no. 3 last year, is a fierce and loyal attack dog, and if Trump were to run again, he would benefit from having a woman as vice president.
Stefanik is one of several Republican women Trump may be eyeing for the potential VP slot, say two people familiar with the matter.
As anyone who has followed Trump’s career knows, the man is always planning ahead. So it should come as no surprise that he is already thinking about his Vice President pick for 2024. While Trump has not publicly said anything about who he is considering, sources close to the situation say that he is seriously looking at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and New York Rep. Elise Stefanik. Both women are high-ranking members of the Republican party, and Trump clearly feels that they would make strong vice presidential candidates. Of course, only time will tell who Trump ultimately chooses as his running mate. In the meantime, it is certainly exciting to watch Trump’s 2024 plans take shape. Who knows, maybe we’ll even get to see a Trump/Greene ticket! Either way, this is one popcorn-worthy race to keep an eye on.
