The midterms were not as big of a success as many would have led us to believe. The effort coiled has stemmed from the Democrats overselling the red wave to increase the fear in voters to get them to the polls. Also, the Republicans could have used that messaging to attack when the midterms came out to how the original polling suggested, a normal midterm election for the opposite party that is in power, they could blame and attack Trump ahead of the midterm elections, in order to make sure he wouldn’t win the election.

Daily Caller reported. Republican Sen.-elect J.D. Vance of Ohio claimed structural problems, not former President Donald Trump, were to blame for the GOP’s underperformance in the 2022 midterm elections in a Monday op-ed.

JD Vance in a tweet stated “ I’ve seen enough bad election analysis from people with no skin in the game. Here’s a candidate’s view of some problems with the midterms”

JD Vance wrote in The American Conservative reported that “Any effort to blame Trump—or McConnell for that matter—ignores a major Democratic structural advantage: money.” He continued, “Money is how candidates fund the all-important advertising that reaches swing voters, and it’s how candidates fund turnout campaigns.” The Republicans were crushed financially in every marquee national race.”

Several high-profile endorsements of Trump, including Doug Mastriano and Mehmet Oz of Pennsylvania and Blake Masters and Paul Laxalt of the Senate, were criticized after losing, while others face tight elections that have not yet been called in midterm elections where the Republican Party underperformed expectations of a nationwide “red wave”..”

As an example, Vance pointed to ActBlue, which was founded in 2004 as a fundraising platform for Democrats. According to OpenSecrets.org, the site raised $1.88 billion in the 2022 election cycle, while WinRed raised $1.04 billion.

While Vance urged Republicans to reform elections in the short term while building up a long-term turnout machine, he noted that the latter would be difficult without organized labor and amid declining church attendance. Trump’s team should also use “their incredible small dollar fundraising machine” to support candidates he endorsed, he said.

While JD Vance is spot on when it comes to fundraising and worker turnout to get the vote out. There are a few key fundamental issues he left out when it comes to house and senate leadership refusing to work with Trump backed candidates. The narrate put out from the top in relation to their efforts to make sure that every race possible was won, was missing. They wanted the midterms to look weak, and have significant losses in races where Trump had a major presence, all of which was in order to make Trump look weaker, and not allow him a place for the 2024 Presidential election. But one thing they forgot about Trump was the amount of appeal he has to the everyday person, and when he ran in 2016, he had everything against him, and he still won.
