Now I don’t know about you but I hate daylight savings time. It is disruptive to my sleep patterns, my kids’ bedtime routine and generally I just hate that it gets dark so so early each day. Personally I would like to see it abolished altogether. But CNN has another reason to hate daylight savings time….  Because they say it is RACIST. That’s right TIME is now racist.

FOX Reports, In a recent CNN article, it was argued that Daylight Savings Time adversely affects minority communities’ sleep and health.

CNN Health reporter Jacqueline Howard wrote on Friday that Daylight Saving Time disrupts sleep, throws off people’s circadian rhythms, and can exacerbate health problems.

Because people of color have more health problems, observing Daylight Savings Time is more dangerous for them.

New York Post notes of the article, Howard quoted Chandra Jackson, a researcher at the National Institute of Environmental Health Science, who said, “Poor sleep is associated with a host of poor health outcomes, including obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and certain cancers, including of the breast and colon.”

In addition, Jackson stated, “Many of these health outcomes are more prevalent in the Black population.“

According to Howard, “it’s not that White adults don’t also experience a lack of sleep and its health consequences – but people of color appear to disproportionately experience them more, and that’s believed to be largely due to social systems in the United States.”

So there you have it. Daylight Savings Time is racist. And to think we missed an opportunity to abolish this racist tool of the system, because the Sunshine Protection Act of 2021 remains stalled in congress.

The Hill reported in July, after passing unanimously in the Senate, the House has failed to pass the bill that would make daylight saving time permanent in the U.S.

Fundamental disagreements over its language and a general consensus that other matters should take precedence appear to be the main impediments to the legislation’s passage, as the House grapples with high inflation, gun massacres and fending off judicial threats on abortion and marriage equality.

On the Senate Floor Tommy Tuberville raised these arguments as to why it should be abolished. Racism was not listed among his concerns.

Time is not racist. It does not discriminate against any race, creed, or color. So for CNN to argue that daylight savings time is racist is beyond stupid. It’s insulting to people of color to suggest that they are so fragile that an extra hour of daylight would adversely affect their sleep and health. This is just another example of how out of touch CNN is with the reality of life for minority communities in America. How bizarre that CNN argues that daylight savings time remains in effect is a testament to the power of the white supremacist establishment. Jacqueline Howard, the author of this racist piece of garbage masquerading as journalism should be next on the chopping block at CNN if they’re looking to add names to their PURGE list.
