For 2 years now there has been a lot of speculation as to whether or not Splash Mountain would close, but it’s finally official. Let me tell you a little bit about why this ride has been so controversial and what the closure means for the company.

The Daily Wire reports, Splash Mountain, Disney’s iconic ride, will close at Walt Disney World Resort on January 23, 2023, to make way for a more “inclusive” experience featuring Princess Tiana.

In a blog post published last week, it was announced that starting in 2024, visitors can join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis in a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This experience will feature zydeco music and other cultural distinctions of the Mississippi River Delta, based on the animated movie “The Princess and the Frog.”

The closure of Splash Mountain at Disney World in Florida was announced following the controversial death of George Floyd. At that time, many large corporations signaled their support for Black Lives Matter and made social justice gestures.

It is not that Americans don’t want princess Tiana on a list of rides, it is the reason behind it all. The abolition of Splash Mountain at the behest of controversial racial tension is an unconscionable move. Disney has caved to the woke mob instead of making an independent decision and that’s what angers millions of Americans.

CNN reported in 2020, Disney’s most popular ride is based on a film widely considered its most racist.

Disney’s Splash Mountain, a mainstay of Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California, featured the animated characters from “Song of the South,” a 1946 film criticized for its stereotyping of “spiritual” black men. Fans wanted the ride to continue. However, they asked Disney to remove all references to the movie from its marketing.

The popular ride had been urged to be rethemed by a number of people. In the most widely shared proposal, it was retooled for “The Princess and the Frog,” the first Disney film to introduce a black princess. A few of them had been turned into Change.org petitions.

A spate of petitions came as companies and the nation grappled with their biases and, at times, racist histories.

When the Walt Disney Company first announced that they were going to rebrand Splash Mountain, many people were surprised. The attraction had been a staple at Disneyland and Walt Disney World for decades, and it seemed like an unnecessary change. However, upon further reflection, it became clear that Disney was caving to the demands of the woke mob. By removing all references to Splash Mountain’s original theme, Disney is sending a clear message: America is more racist now than it was during the days of segregation. This is a dangerous and misguided message, and it does a disservice to both our history and our future. If Disney truly believes that America is more racist now than it was in the past, then they are part of the problem. We need to come together as a nation and heal the divisions that the left is spewing, not condone it.
