Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez might have a degree in economics, but judging by her most recent tweet about economy under the Biden administration, one might be forgiven for assuming she slept through much of those classes.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is normally the premier source of honest and expert analysis on many of the world’s burning issues – but when it comes to economics, she bit off more than she can chew in her latest tweet. She was quick to call out the GOP for alleged research failures, only to be hit with a round of brutal fact checks that showed she was far from equipped to make such statements. She might be a genius when it comes to Mixology, but ELON Musk reminded us once again that She’s a bartender not an economist and shouldn’t forget it!.
Western journal reports, Ocasio-Cortez may have thought she had a zinger against Republicans when she retweeted a stat from the GOP’s official Twitter account regarding the number of Americans living paycheck to paycheck under President Biden.
The GOP’s tweet stated, “60% of workers report living paycheck-to-paycheck.”
AOC caption tweeted that GOP tweet with her statement, “And yet y’all still voted against raising the minimum wage,”
That post caused Twitter to put a fact check table under the post highlighting the fact that Congressional Republicans did not agree with raising the minimum wage. However the fact check box also highlighted that consumers of many income levels are reported as living paycheck to paycheck. In addition to that, the fact check box linked many articles to highlight that increased inflation reduces real wages.
Graham Allen replied to her tweet with. “Raising the minimum wage just makes everything else MORE expensive. Meaning it enhances daily life ZERO. Therefore it amounts to absolutely nothing except tricking voters to vote for you.”
Elon Musk and AOC seem to have beef with each other, that thankfully is playing out over Twitter.
Insider reports, Elon Musk and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was in yet another Twitter spat recently.
Musk recently suspended the accounts of at least half a dozen journalists and tweeted an explanation. The suspended journalists allegedly doxxed him, a violation of Twitter’s updated privacy policy.
AOC replied to Musk’s explanation of why he suspended the journalists accounts stating “You’re a public figure. An extremely controversial and powerful one. I get feeling unsafe, but descending into abuse of power + erratically banning journalists only increases the intensity around you. Take a beat and lay off the proto-fascism. Maybe try putting down your phone.”
Elon responded, and successfully owned her in 3 words. “ You first lol”
In what was perhaps the least surprising political tweet of the year, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to talk about the economy under President Biden’s watch. With her economic degree in hand and a tweet about soaring costs and inflating prices, Ocasio-Cortez failed to mention that these issues could have been avoided had Biden not failed to pick up where former President Donald Trump left off. Gas prices, which saw a notable drop under the last administration are now becoming increasingly expensive once again, while essential household items are seeing their costs soar too. This economy might be too much for even an economics degree holder like AOC to handle – so maybe one should look further than her tweets next time they make any economy related decisions.
