Game Changer! Democrat Lawmaker Backs Republicans In The Battle Against TIKTOK

It’s a shift that many would not have predicted: now, a prominent Democratic lawmaker is backing the Republicans’ efforts to challenge the popular video-sharing app TikTok. A congressman from Connecticut of all places recently has indirectly shown her support for the ban of TikTok. This only bolsters our efforts to effectively cripple the CCP from infiltrating our country from all angles.

Representative Jim Himes has recently spoken out about the potential threat of TikTok on our national security,  hopefully encouraging other members in Congress to take swift and meaningful action. The congressman took issue with the fact that the Communist Party of China requires companies operating within their borders to provide data at all times. This should be cause for celebration amongst Americans.

Breitbart reports, In NBC’s “MTP Now” interview Wednesday, Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) said TikTok is a threat to national security because “the Communist Party can go to any Chinese-owned or Chinese-owned company and say, give us all of this personal information about your users.” That happens every single day in China.”

The host wanted the representative to truly emphasize that he thought TikTok was indeed a national security threat.

Here was his response.

This all comes after the federal government banned TikTok from government-owned devices.

CBS reports the U.S. in a statement on Tuesday, the House Committee on House Administration banned TikTok from all House-managed mobile devices “due to security risks.”

In a memo from House Chief Administrative Officer Catherine Szpindor, House staffers are prohibited from downloading TikTok onto House devices.

Government entities now ban the Chinese-owned social media app. Earlier in December, the Senate voted to ban the app from government devices for all federal employees.

It is absolutely insulting that the representative would think the Chinese Communist Party only poses a national security risk if they gain access to government information. The man has obviously forgotten one critical aspect: without the people, there is no government. Collecting the personal data of millions of American citizens should be seen as a wide-reaching national security threat regardless of what type of information it is. Leaders willing to ignore or downplay this problem are not doing their jobs properly and are failing to adequately protect our privacy, safety, and interests of their constituents. The government is important, yes but the people are more important than the government. They serve us, we don’t serve them.

Let’s continue this conversation, in the comments below.
