Democrats SCRAMBLING to Regain Control of Your Free Speech – Here’s a Legal Action they Want to Take

Suddenly, prominent Democrats are saying that they should start controlling speech - for their own good, of course, in light of all the horrible, evil "misinformation" and "hate speech."

From Hunter Biden’s laptop to COVID, the Twitter files have revealed the government’s attempt to suppress free speech. We’ll also be seeing the “Fauci Files” later this week, according to Twitter’s Elon Musk.

We were previously misled by Democrats and liberal media to believe that there wasn’t any suppression of speech going on, or that, if it was happening, the government wasn’t involved and constitutional questions weren’t involved, RedState reports.

Suddenly, prominent Democrats are saying that they should start controlling speech – for their own good, of course, in light of all the horrible, evil “misinformation” and “hate speech.”

For example, in remarks last week, Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD), who has served in Congress for 35 years, acted as though he didn’t know the Constitution. In contradiction to the First Amendment, he called for going after social media to curb “hate speech.”

He not only said they needed to be more “aggressive” in pursuing speech, but he specifically pointed to what was happening in Europe as a model. That’s crazy, since a number of European countries have begun punishing people for offensive speech. It’s a path we don’t want to follow, but it’s the one the Democrats want us to take.

The problem extends beyond Cardin. When she appeared on “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) also ventured down that dangerous path.

She was talking about Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and called for it to be changed so that the government could take action against “misinformation.”

The Democrats might start by addressing their own misinformation, since they’re some of the biggest purveyors.

It’s absolutely appalling that Democratic politicians are now trying to take legislative action to try and control free speech on social media platforms following the release of the Twitter files – which showed just how much government has an influence on the internet. The idea of free speech being suppressed is a disgrace, bringing to mind the imagery of Orwell’s 1984 or another dystopian society like socialism. It would be an unprecedented move if they manage to succeed, but free speech has been a staple of democracy since its inception and will always prevail in the face of attempts to limit it.
