Governor Ron DeSantis is taking a bold move to take control of woke Walt Disney’s land once and for all, much to the shock and dismay of the insane liberals. The state of Florida is planning to replace the once-sovereign power with a state-run board, slipping in back taxes under their radar while also promising to keep the culture alive.
Ron Desantis does not hold punches when it comes to fighting wokeism inside of his state. Nor does Desantis hold back when a corporation is taking advantage of the state, and not paying its fair share of taxes.
Townhall reports, Florida announced a plan to take control of Walt Disney’s land once and for all.
Disney World’s special self-governing powers would be replaced by a state-run board, according to a notice posted on the website of Osceola County.
According to sources in Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office, DeSantis plans to mandate that the governor appoint members of the board.
Taryn Fenske, DeSantis’s communication director, told Fox News that the corporate kingdom is over.
“Under the proposed legislation, Disney will no longer control its government, will live under the same laws as everyone else, will be responsible for their outstanding debts, and will pay their fair share of taxes,” Fenske said.
Additionally, it will ensure that Orange County cannot raise taxes on its residents and that it pays up to $700 million in unsecured debt accumulated by Disney’s special district, known as Reedy Creek District.
DeSantis’ former chief of staff, Adrian Lukis said, adding “The governor is doing exactly what he said he would, Disney can no longer have its own government and own taxing authority, and Disney, not taxpayers, will have to be responsible for any financial consequences.”
Desantis recently removed Disney’s special governance allowance after the company decided to fight Florida’s legislative agenda.
Washington post reports, During last year’s legislative session, DeSantis eliminated Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District for opposing the law he pushed that limits how educators address LGBTQ issues in the classroom. Disney is allowed to operate as a quasi-government agency, building roads and collecting taxes. The economic consequences of scrapping the arrangement are dire, according to experts.
