In a 221-211 vote on Tuesday, the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government passed the House largely along party lines.
The committee will be headed by Jim Jordan, a Trump ally who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, and it will examine how the Biden administration and the executive branch have collected information about private citizens.
Its purpose is to examine how government agencies – such as the FBI, Justice Department, and Homeland Security – collect, compile, analyze, use, and disseminate information about citizens of the United States, including any unconstitutional, illegal, or unethical activities committed against U.S. citizens.
