Matt Gaetz Bigger Man As He Offers Olive Branch After Fight

Things got a little heated during the vote for McCarthy as speaker of the house, and eventually led to an altercation between Representative Rogers and those trying to hold him back as he went after Representative Gaetz. But as things cooled off matt Gaetz became the bigger man, as he extended the olive branch.

Politics is often called a blood sport, given the animalistic nature of political confrontation, manipulations, and outright brute force needed to achieve ones political goals. However these confrontations, and clashes tend to stick to words being exchanged when in the US House of representatives, but sadly recently this was not the case.

Daily wire reports, During a tense confrontation Friday on the House floor that led to Rogers being physically restrained by colleagues, firebrand Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz offered an olive branch to fellow Republican Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL).

Gaetz, who blocked McCarthy from becoming speaker, drew Rogers’ ire when he voted “present” in the 14th ballot to once again deny McCarthy. During the dramatic confrontation that followed McCarthy taking the speaker’s gavel, Rogers had to be restrained by North Carolina Rep. Richard Hudson.

Gaetz Tweeted after the incident “@RepMikeRogersAL and I have a six-year productive, working relationship. We’re going to work together wonderfully going forward.

I don’t think there should be any punishment or reprisal just because he had an animated moment. He has my forgiveness.”

The following day, Rogers apologized publicly to Gaetz for his actions.

Representative Mike Rogers tweeted back an apology to Gaetz stating “@RepMattGaetz and I have a long and productive working relationship that I am sure will continue. I regret that I briefly lost my temper on the House Floor Friday evening and appreciate Matt’s kind understanding,”

The tensions on the House floor were palpable on Friday as tensions between Reps. Matt Gaetz and Mike Rogers reached a boiling point. After his last ballot, which denied Kevin McCarthy from rising as speaker of the House, Rogers had a physical altercation with colleagues trying to restrain him. Fortunately, tensions were snapped after Gaetz stepped up and extended an olive branch of peace to ease tensions, proving that politics isn’t always all negative. It was a noble gesture, particularly in a field where tensions can run so high. We can only hope that more people may be able to set aside their differences and find common ground when needed in the future.

  • The "GOP" Republicans MUST get together, similar to what the DemoKKKrats do" when there is a debate about a particular topic. HOWEVER, I am NOT encouraging Our Republican REPRESENTATIVES to vote ENBLOC as the DemoKKKrat communist party members are doing. YES!! There IS a difference between a Democrat(an American Republic believer) and a DemoKKKrat(a One world government SYCOPHANT)!
