McCarthy said Thursday that he is considering releasing all 14,000 hours of security footage from the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

He made the comments in response to Rep. Matt Gaetz’s claim that Republicans would release 14,000 hours of previously withheld tapes.

Gaetz took to Twitter after McCarthy’s comments to thank him for keeping his promise to Republican holdouts.

 He tweeted, “Thank you to the 20 patriots who helped EARN this commitment from the Speaker.  Thank you @SpeakerMcCarthy for affirming this commitment you made. Keeping promises is how trust is built. I’m growing more optimistic by the day!”

Meanwhile over at CNN, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy took no prisoners when a CNN reporter suggested he was being dishonest over his decision to not appoint two specific Democratic Congressmen, Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell, to certain committees. McCarthy was unsparing in his response, informing the reporter that they had failed to properly examine Swalwell’s past or even consider Schiff’s possible dishonesty before presenting the accusation. It was such a brutal response that CNN had to cut away.
