War may be brewing on the U.S.–Mexico border! Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) and Mike Waltz (R-FL) have introduced a bill that would bring in the army to fight drug cartels smuggling fentanyl across the southern border. The escalation of violence has reached such a point that it requires more than just local law enforcement, Border Patrol, or even the Mexican military can provide – bringing conversations regarding authorization for military force to the President’s desk.
Drug trafficking has been a growing problem for years, and it appears President Joe Biden has failed in his attempts to bring it under control. Now it is up to a Republican controlled house to fix the problem Biden enabled.
Washington examiner reports, a bill introduced by Representative Dan Crenshaw and Representative Mike Waltz would allow the president to use military force against drug cartels smuggling fentanyl across the southern border.
According to the two Republicans, the violent cartels have destabilized the Mexican border to the point where local law enforcement, the Border Patrol, and the Mexican military are no longer able to stem the flow of drugs. By approving the use of military force, President Biden would be able to send the military’s intelligence resources to the border.
Crenshaw Stated “The cartels are at war with us — poisoning more than 80,000 Americans with fentanyl every year, creating a crisis at our border, and turning Mexico into a failed narco-state, “It’s time we directly target them. My legislation will put us at war with the cartels by authorizing the use of military force against the cartels. We cannot allow heavily armed and deadly cartels to destabilize Mexico and import people and drugs into the United States. We must start treating them like ISIS — because that is who they are.”
Congressman Waltz had more to add to the already impressive idea to combat the narco terrorists.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Waltz said the cartels “have exceeded the capability of law enforcement” and are “a paramilitary arm with armored vehicles, heavy weapons, and billions at their disposal.”
Waltz continued “And we’ve even seen collaboration with international terrorist groups and the Chinese Communist Party with these groups, So, we believe that we need to start using military assets to address this national security threat.”
According to Waltz, the US had “great success” with Plan Colombia under former President Clinton, and the issue of cartels should not be seen as a law enforcement issue.
He and Crenshaw also intend to offer the Mexican government “assets and help” and said that “cooperation with the United States” is necessary “to defeat” the cartels.
With this bill, President Joe Biden will be able to bring in the nation’s intelligence resources to bring about the level of protection necessary for American citizens.
