Senator John Kennedy, R-La., questioned a Biden judicial nominee about the US Constitution during a Senate hearing on Wednesday.
According to FOX News, President Biden nominated Spokane County Superior Court Judge Charnelle Bjelkengren for the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Washington.
Bjelkengren was unable to answer Kennedy’s questions about what different parts of the Constitution do and how courts interpret laws during her confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The Constitution’s Article V governs amendments, and Article II outlines the powers of the executive branch, enumerating the powers of the president.
However, despite the nominee’s lack of basic knowledge about the U.S. Constitution, the White House continues to support her.
“Proudly,” White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates told Fox News Digital when asked about whether Joe Biden was still sticking by his nominee.
It is appalling that a judicial nominee has been put forward without having the basic knowledge of the US Constitution. Senator John Kennedy was clearly not impressed with the candidate’s answers and did not hide his disappointment with her lack of ability to answer his questions. It’s a disgrace that the White House still supports her even though it is obvious she isn’t qualified to uphold a judgeship, leaving many more deserving candidates in the dust.
