Dire Situation: Is CNN Heading Towards Extinction After Worst Ratings Week in Nine Years?

With numbers that haven’t been seen since nine years ago, the “liberal media” machine does not appear to be winning any points with viewers for its puff-pieces about the Democratic establishment, and woke agenda.

It’s no surprise that CNN is in a downward spiral- the so-called “liberal media” has been caving in on itself since Trump made his explosive political debut. But their constant lies, and outright manipulation of facts, has begun to wear down on even their most ardent supporters.

Townhall reports, CNN hasn’t kept up with post-Trump administration times, regardless of a change of course directed by new boss Chris Licht following a merger between CNN’s parent company and Discovery. There’s bound to be some talk of whether the network can be salvaged when ratings continue to plummet to levels not seen in nearly a decade.

CNN reported it had its lowest ratings in nine years across all its day parts during the week of Jan. 16-22, 2023: “Just 444,000 viewers in primetime, 93,000 in the all-important age 25-54 news demographic and 417,000 in viewers and 80,000 in the demo for total day.”

But CNN is trying another trick to try and get ratings up.

Chris Licht made some choices to try and help the network recover its ratings, and we know how this will go for him.

The wrap reports, to host the rebooted morning show, Licht handpicked CNN’s Don Lemon, Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins. However, the trio has not been able to grow its audience. A source familiar with the situation told TheWrap exclusively last week that Hall has been reassigned to Laura Coates’ “CNN Tonight,” signaling that the show needs to improve.

TheWrap also reported that Lemon, Harlow, and Collins “seem to be becoming frustrated” with the show’s direction.

The unnamed insider stated “The show can’t decide strategically what exactly it is, so it’s trying to be everything which can create whiplash for a viewer when segments seem off-brand in tonality, The audience for morning news on network TV is different than the cable news audience and since we’re not gaining new viewers we definitely need to retain our legacy ones”

As TheWrap previously reported, CNN will soon be launching a revamped daytime slate and anchor trios that aim to take a “fresh approach” to its daytime programming through two new programs.

It’s clear that the ratings for CNN have plummeted over the last nine years and it seems that their liberal agenda and biased coverage of stories is not resonating with the American public. Hosts must be frustrated to see the network which had been considered one of the dominant news outlets just a few years ago, now being pushed aside in favor of conservative networks like Fox News who accurately cover events and draw in a large audience. The new woke mobs and Democrat puppets have taken center stage in what CNN has deemed ‘news’, leaving regular Americans wondering if they should just take their business to other networks whose agenda isn’t jam-packed with crazy conspiracy theories. While Trump supporters may view this news with satisfaction, with his announcement to run for president in 2024, undecided voters will only become more divided than ever before
