Biden Admin Hands GOP Victory by Caving to Border Hearing Request

The Biden administration has reportedly caved to the GOP-led Congress and will allow Border Patrol chiefs to testify next week.

In a hearing titled “On the Front Lines of the Border Crisis: A Hearing with Chief Patrol Agents,” the agents will share details about the situation on the southern border of the United States.

A letter on Tuesday, House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY) thanked Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) Alejandro Mayorkas for permitting the agents to testify.

Comer was prepared to issue subpoenas to compel the agents to testify, so it was not really an optional move.

The hearing will hear testimony from Gloria Chavez, Chief Patrol Agent of the Rio Grande Valley Sector, and John Modlin, Chief Patrol Agent of the Tucson Sector.

Comer criticized the Biden administration’s border policies and vowed to hold it accountable in a statement, adding, “Next week, we will hear firsthand from the Border Patrol about this humanitarian and national security crisis. Oversight Republicans are committed to holding the Biden Administration accountable for its dereliction of duty and look forward to hearing testimony from those on the ground battling this crisis”

In addition to Biden’s border crisis, the Committee on Oversight and Accountability has promised to investigate Pandemic relief fraud, in which hearings began this week.

The committee will also investigate the Afghanistan withdrawal; Energy crisis; COVID origins; and the Biden family influence peddling.

CLOSE. The Biden administration handing the GOP a major victory is certainly an unexpected surprise. With accountability and transparency being so integral to this day and age, the excitement surrounding these hearings may be just what is needed in order to get to the bottom of the crisis at our Southern border. It is always best to expose any underlying issues or problems rather than sweep them under the rug; and with the two border chiefs set to testify, now is the perfect time to finally let the hearings begin.
