In a new bill introduced this week, Florida House Speaker Paul Renner (R) announced that residents would be allowed to carry concealed firearms without a permit.
As of Monday, the bill HB 543: Concealed Carry of Weapons and Firearms Without a License had been filed.
Both the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Florida Sheriffs Association support the legislation.
During a press conference, Florida House Speaker Renner said, “Florida led the nation in allowing concealed carry, and that extends today as we remove the government permission slip to exercise a constitutional right.”
The introduction of this legislation follows a wave of recent gun control measures enacted in some Democratic-led states, FOX News notes.
Florida gun owners have long waited for a law that truly lives up to the freedoms granted by the second amendment, and now this wait is over! The bill allowing constitutional carry was recently introduced and Florida residents can jump for joy knowing their right to bear arms shall not be infringed upon. It is an amazing step forward which will widely be applauded by many, especially those who wish to exercise their rights under the Second Amendment without needing a permit. As such, it is no surprise that both the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Florida Sheriffs Association are in favor of this legislation.
