Similarly, a CNN source spoke in reference to Lemon’s headline-grabbing gaffes, “Everyone is pissed about it. It makes us the story, and it hurts us.”
Lemon’s remarks became the but of jokes in the White House press room on Friday when talk of a “woman’s prime” became a question from the Press Corps.
Ahead of his disappearance from CNN, Lemon apologized on Twitter.
He Tweeted, “The reference I made to a woman’s ‘prime’ this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it. A woman’s age doesn’t define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.”
Haley mocked him, tweeting: “To be clear, I am NOT calling for competency tests for sexist middle-aged CNN anchors; only for people who make our laws and are 75+.”
Lemon, according to a source, decided to start Presidents’ Day Weekend early by visiting Miami for a pre-planned vacation. He is expected to return to flying on Tuesday, according to another source.
Following his bizarre plea to CNN colleagues on Friday morning, Lemon was pictured emerging from South Beach surf with a smile on his face and laying on a chaise lounge.
