Gov Ron DeSantis Crushes Big Tech With New ‘Bill Of Rights’

Gov. Ron DeSantis has taken a big step in the digital rights of Floridians, declaring a Digital Bill of Rights to stand up against big tech’s prying hands and censorship.

With China’s ever-growing presence, this Act is long overdue as only through a unified defensive can states hope to safeguard their resident’s online libraries, search histories, personal information, and communication freedom.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has startled the big tech industry by announcing a digital bill of rights in order to stop big corporations from overreaching into the lives of Floridians. His call for fairness and justice for all Floridians underscores this groundbreaking push against big tech harassment and data exploitation, one that should come as a relief to citizens who have long been subjected to these invasive practices.

Fox news reports, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday that the state government will recognize new digital rights that will protect Floridians from big tech surveillance.

A new “Digital Bill of Rights” will protect Floridians from “Big Tech harm and Big Tech overreach,” DeSantis said during a press conference in West Palm Beach.

As the Sunshine State leader elaborated, Florida’s government will no longer allow tech companies to monitor personal conversations, given that many devices automatically collect information when prompted by certain words and phrases.

According to DeSantis, the federal government can listen in on these devices through wiretaps, which requires a court warrant, but “for private companies, if you use their product, they can just do it.”

A new Digital Bill of Rights is part of a larger push by DeSantis’ administration against Big Tech and its ability to censor users and control the content that they promote and display.

As DeSantis reminded the crowd, Florida currently has legislation pending in the courts that would allow consumers to take action against companies that discriminate unfairly.

Desantis stated “A couple of years ago, we were the first state to take the lead to protect Floridians against Big Tech censorship and we passed legislation that did a couple of things,” he said. “We knew there would be litigation and would have to be decided by the Supreme Court but we decided some provisions of law that said these tech platforms and these social media companies are not — by their own admission — publishers.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s announcement of a Digital Bill of Rights comes at a time when big tech is overreaching into every facet of people’s lives, from censorship to surveillance. Big Tech is trying to take away privacy rights, free speech and many other liberties, as well as allowing communist Chinese censorships. Florida is fed up and fighting back with the creation of this new bill that will protect Floridians from big tech’s overreach and give them the digital freedom they deserve. Recognizing these digital rights is long overdue and critical in the fight against big tech companies across the nation; thankfully Gov DeSantis recognizes this too and has taken measures to put the brakes on big tech!
