Joe Biden criticized Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for trying to replace Advanced Placement (AP) classes. As a result, he accidentally supported the idea of the governor, according to Townhall.

On Friday, Biden posted a Washington Post article titled, “Unfathomable: Florida parents, students blast DeSantis idea to nix APs,” to Twitter attacking DeSantis.

Biden’s tweet alongside the article read, “I think every kid, in every zip code, in every state should have access to every educational opportunity possible. I guess, for some, that isn’t the consensus view.”

The WaPo story raises concerns regarding Florida’s withdrawal from the AP program under DeSantis. Black studies courses were blocked from being tried in the state by the governor.

Replying to the president’s accidental remarks, Republicans thanked him for championing school choice.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted, “President Biden, I’ve done more in 5 weeks than you’ve done in 5 decades to give ‘every kid, in every zip code … access to every educational opportunity possible. I guess, for some, it’s never been about empowering parents or students but protecting a broken government system.”

Former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos tweeted, “Welcome to the #EducationFreedom movement, Mr. President @POTUS @JoeBiden.”

American Federation for Children senior fellow Corey DeAngelis said, “thank you for the accidental endorsement of school choice.”

Joe Biden’s attack against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has relentlessly backfired on him in a way that he probably didn’t see coming. Republicans flourished under Biden’s self-inflicted wound as they thanked him and agreed wholeheartedly with his accidental remark, seemingly championing school choice – a topic of which Republicans have preached and worked towards for years. Joe’s already lost so many of his supporters during his presidency, and this tweet endorsing a Republican talking point is likely going to lead to an even bigger loss.
