WATCH Garland Tested In Showdown With Cruz Over SCOTUS Riots on Capitol Hill

Ready for a showdown? Senator Ted Cruz and Attorney General Merrick Garland had it out during a fiery Senate hearing this week. In an absolute heated exchange, we got to see Cruz put his legal prowess on full display as he spared no expense in putting Garland to shame.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz got into a heated exchange with Attorney General Merrick Garland during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday. Cruz accused the Justice Department chief of failing to protect conservative Supreme Court justices after they voted to overturn Roe v. Wade last summer.

According to Cruz, Garland sat idly by while protesters gathered at the homes of justices who voted for overturning Roe, which ended nationwide abortion access and returned abortion to the states.

Specifically, the senator cited Ruth Sent Us, a pro-abortion rights group that leaked the justices’ home addresses.

During a tense back-and-forth, the senator accused Garland of not doing his job as attorney general.

As Cruz noted in his remarks, conservative Supreme Court Justices have been targeted at their homes over the summer and still are to this day. At their school, the children of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett were harassed and hunted down.

Additionally, a man was arrested outside the home of Justice Brett Kavanaugh with the intent and tools to assassinate him last summer.

In spite of the fact that it is illegal to picket outside the home of a judge or juror with the intention of intimidating them, Garland has not deterred or prosecuted such behavior, Cruz further noted.

The sign behind Cruz details Title 18, Section 1507 of the U.S. Code, on picketing or parading, which states: “Whoever, with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty, pickets or parades in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.”

All in all, Ted Cruz had an amazing confrontation with Attorney General Merrick Garland during the Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing. Cruz demanded answers from Garland regarding why he failed to protect conservative Supreme Court justices last summer after they voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, returning abortion access to the states. Cruz argued that Garland showed indifference by allowing protesters to gather at the homes of the justices. He accused Garland of not properly fulfilling his duty as attorney general, asserting that Americans deserve answers and accountability. Evidently, Ted Cruz’s questions and criticism of Garland during the hearing was completely justified, and he did a great service for the American people by confronting the Attorney General on these important topics.
