What happened to the Toronto Raptors was a moment of hope in a largely corporate and political NBA landscape. For once, the team attempted to pay tribute to women by honoring women, only for it to backfire. While The Raptors had their hearts in the right place, this turn of events is perhaps unsurprising in an era where erring on the side of caution with any sort of political disclaimer on standby.
The Toronto Raptors found out the hard way the importance of understanding and inclusion. In a message that was intended to celebrate Women’s History Month, the NBA team created a video in which three different players were asked what made women ‘run the world’, referencing Beyonce’s song. What followed was less than ideal – instead of mentioning woke talking points like strength, justice or equality, the players ended up keeping it short and real about how women are the only ones who can give birth. This was obviously the wrong answer according to the woke mob. The Raptors were soon left with no other option but to publicly apologize for their video.
Trending politics reports, In honor of Women’s History Month, an NBA team apologized for a video they posted. In a video created by the Toronto Raptors, three different players are asked what makes women “run the world,” referencing Beyonce’s song “Girls Run The World.”
The Raptors players responded, “Girls run the world because they are the only ones that can procreate. They birth everybody”
As a result of critics’ criticism, the video was swiftly removed as being “misguided and rushed.”
The Raptors were forced to apologize for the lack of “inclusion” their video supposedly displayed, saying:
“We’re an organization that prides itself on doing the right thing when it comes to inclusion and representation, and we made a mistake.
Our sincerest apologies to our players, our staff and our fans – we’ll work to do better today and every day after.”
After the apology, many common sense Americans were confused as to why they apologized.
A person who seemed to identify as a real woman tweeted, “Women HISTORY month. The clue is in the word history. Historically, everyone who has been born, Every Single Human who ever was, has been born to a WOMAN. @Raptors wtf are you apologizing?”
And Toby Turner, a prominent Youtuber also tweeted, “Nothin wrong w/ giving props for the coolest thing a human can do.”
The Toronto Raptors’ decision to apologize for a statement that told the truth was a maddening move, and a slap in the face to all women. The Raptors had no lies in their tribute, praising the single most amazing achievement women have been able to accomplish deserves no apology at all. No one could come close to what these women have done and by bringing others into the conversation only minimizes their magnificence. It is a disgraceful move on part of the Raptors organization and now they owe all women an apology for caving to the mob.
