Texas Lawmaker Pushes for Secession with ‘TEXIT’ Referendum

Talk in Texas is escalating around a very controversial topic. The Lone Star State is discussing a bold action to counter the growing socialist and potentially communist agenda of the federal government. Should such a thing ever come true, it will completely rewrite US history. This issue should not be ignored or taken lightly – stay tuned.

Texas secession is a contentious issue that has been fiercely debated for decades and it looks like the debate may reach its peak if the Texas legislature decides to pass it. If the TEXIT referendum succeeds, Texans will be able to decide if the Lone Star State should separate from the United States during the next general election.

The New York Post report,

The state representative from Houston Bryan Slaton said in a statement, “the Texas Constitution is clear that all political power resides in the people. After decades of continuous abuse of our rights and liberties by the federal government, it is time to let the people of Texas make their voices heard. If a majority votes “yes” on H.B. 3596, a committee will be established to investigate the feasibility of independence from the Union and propose options and potential plans for independence to the Texas Legislature.”

As part of his Twitter announcement, Slaton included a petition supporting the bill’s passage. The State Affairs Committee had previously considered similar legislation, but it did not receive a hearing.

On the anniversary of the Alamo’s fall, the lawmaker said he was “proud” to file the bill.

While the Texas National Movement, a group of approximately 440,000 pushing for Texas independence, supports the bill, state lawmakers of both parties have condemned it.

One Republican Rep. from Plano Tx, Jef fLeach tweeted, “this ridiculous bill is the very definition of hypocritical & seditious treason & it is already dead.”

Slaton’s “TEXIT” proposal follows US Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s call for a “national divorce,” a phrase she has frequently used to suggest splitting the country down political lines.

State Rep. Bryan Slaton joined News Nation to discuss the bill.

With the current state of political turmoil in our country, it isn’t surprising that the idea of Texas’ independence has been revisited once again. However, it is uncertain whether this discussion will actually translate into action. Rep. Slaton put it best when he said that this is an opportunity for Texans to express their sentiments towards the federal government and to try to push power back from where it rightfully should come from: the people. While no one can make predictions about the movement’s chances in passing its legislation through the Texas legislature, it certainly makes for a fascinating topic – one that will be sure to generate even more heated conversations throughout the Lone Star state.

Let’s continue this conversation, in the comments below.
