Left-Wing Oscars Suffer Yet Another Year of Rating Plunge

It appears that America is sick of Hollywood’s biased liberal agenda and overall lack of touch with their audience.

Western Journal reports, as the Oscars have become more political, nasty, and openly left-wing over the last decade, viewership has plummeted.

The ratings for this year were no different. Nielsen reports that 18.7 million viewers watched Sunday’s Academy Awards broadcast, hosted by left-wing comedian Jimmy Kimmel.

Although this year’s audience rose 12 percent from last year’s abysmal 16.6 million viewers, it is still mediocre compared to past years, when it regularly topped 30 million viewers.

Kimmel’s performance was vacuous and uninspiring, as he took a predictable dig at Tucker Carlson’s decision to air raw footage of the Jan. 6 Capitol incursion.

Kimmel was mocked on Twitter before this year’s telecast because of his distasteful history of inappropriate jokes that would destroy any conservative.

Twitter users were quick to point out that Jimmy Kimmel has had many TV appearances in blackface. One stated “Weird how Jimmy Kimmel made a career out of wearing black face and mocking sexual assault and was the host of the #OSCARS …I thought Hollywood told us these things were bad?”

Or this time

When the Oscars took an extreme left turn in 2017 and began viciously attacking Trump and other conservatives, many of us who used to watch the show boycotted it.

It has even been admitted by the liberal New York Times that left-wing politics have alienated viewers.

According to a 2021 story on the Oscars from the New York Times stating “Increasingly, the ceremonies are less about entertainment honors and more about progressive politics, which inevitably annoys those in the audience who disagree, One recent producer of the Oscars, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss confidential metrics, said minute-by-minute post-show ratings analysis indicated that ‘vast swaths’ of people turned off their televisions when celebrities started to opine on politics.”

From the red carpet to the winner’s podium, it seems like everyone has had enough and is tuning out from awards shows. Even famed host Jimmy Kimmel failed to draw any new reception to viewers, as it’s apparent that Washington’s policies have reached its saturation point among audiences. It’s abundantly clear that Hollywood needs to get back on track in order to remain current and relatable with the public, if it wishes not just to save its viewings but also its legitimacy with American citizens at large.
