What Is Biden Hiding About the Formula Shortage?

Incredulous Republican lawmakers have slammed the Biden administration due to its mishandling of the baby formula shortage issue; launching a full blown investigation into the critical failure.

With economy-killing inflation on the rise and a crippling political divide already in place, it is shameful – not just to Republicans, but to all of America – that Joe Biden was so clueless as to allow this problem to happen.

Daily wire reports, House Oversight and Accountability Committee is investigating the Biden administration’s mishandling of the 2022 baby formula shortage.

Representative James Comer (R-KY) and Representative Lisa McClain (R-MI) sent a letter to FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Califf requested documents regarding the government’s response to the nationwide baby formula shortage. Despite the FDA’s mishandling of the crisis, the two lawmakers condemned the agency for not taking real responsibility.

In a letter to the FDA Rep Comer and Rep McClain stated.  In response to the infant formula shortage, the Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) response and its restructuring of its food and nutrition division. In its report titled ‘Operational Evaluation of the FDA Human Foods Program,’ the Reagan-Udall Foundation found there was a lack of motivation and no requirement to facilitate critical thinking and proactive decision-making during the infant formula shortage. Despite this report, and the acknowledged need for a major overhaul, you stated that there would be no reassignments nor firings over the administration’s response to the infant formula shortage.”

The FDA, according to Comer and McClain, should have fired or reassigned the employees who mishandled the crisis instead of shuffling around.

They continued in their letter “Now, instead of removing or reassigning the individuals at fault for the poor response to this crisis, the announced restructuring of the food and nutrition division simply requires certain offices and personnel to report to the newly created position of Deputy Commissioner for Human Foods. The Committee is concerned that the FDA’s restructuring is a superficial attempt—rather than a real effort—to bring accountability and make meaningful changes.”

The committee also requested a litany of documents from the FDA around the baby formula crisis, the list also includes inter-department communications.

Republicans are in an uproar over the shocking revelation of the baby formula shortage being linked to the Biden administration and their mishandling of supply chain management. Politicians such as Rep. Comer and McClain have been given the daunting task of uncovering who is really to blame, with accusations pointing towards economic inflation, political division and corporate greed. Questions have also surfaced concerning the role of FDA Commissioner in this “formula crisis,” which many say is a direct result of negligence by those in power. It’s shameful that something this avoidable has snowballed into an acute shortage with so many families suffering the effects – it’s time for the real culprit to put their hand up and accept responsibility. As far as economic prices go, this is certainly a failure on behalf of the Biden admin and yet another example of how clueless they are when it comes to taking care of America’s needs.
