Trump expressed his approval of the delay, writing on Truth Social, “I have gained such respect for this grand jury, and perhaps even the grand jury system as a whole.”
He added, “THERE IS NO CASE HERE. DROP THIS SICK WITCH HUNT NOW!”

There are allegations that Trump paid hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election in order to keep her quiet about an affair the two had in 2006.

A Federal Election Commission investigation into the matter was also dismissed in 2021.
Several have argued that the investigation and charges are politically motivated due to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.
