TRUMP INDICTED: Here’s Everything You Need to Know

Democrats have been chomping at the bit to take down former President Donald Trump for years, and now they’ve finally made their move. Trump has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury in connection to hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Let’s take a closer look at everything you need to know about this case, including how prominent Republicans are reacting to the situation.

As part of a years-long investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, President Donald Trump has been indicted.

In a statement Thursday, a spokesperson from District Attorney Alvin Bragg said: “This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal. Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected.”

Opening up his Thursday show, Tucker Carlson reported on the news, saying there is “no coming back from this moment.”

Bragg has been investigating Trump for hush money payments made before the 2016 election.

Although Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen implicated him as part of his plea deal, federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York declined to charge him related to the Stormy Daniels payment in 2019. In 2021, the Federal Election Commission also tossed its investigation into the matter.

The president responded to the indictment by slamming Bragg for his “obsession” with attempting to “get” him, while warning the move will backfire.

Trump said Democrats are guilty of “weaponizing our justice system to punish a political opponent.”

Friday morning, when asked about the indictment, Joe Biden said he had “no comment on Trump.”

A number of Republican lawmakers and Trump allies have also condemned the investigation as a political prosecution.

The governor of Florida, where Trump lives, quickly condemned the investigation and said Florida would not assist Bragg’s office.

DeSantis tweeted, “Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.”

Republican Sen. John Hawley of Missouri tweeted: “Tonight’s indictment of Donald Trump isn’t about the law. It’s about power. Raw power. It’s the Democrat Party telling the nation they will stop at nothing to control the outcome of the next presidential election. It is an assault on our democracy, pure and simple.”

>House Speaker Kevin McCarthy posted on Twitter: “The American people will not tolerate this injustice, and the House of Representatives will hold Alvin Bragg and his unprecedented abuse of power to account.”

Former AZ gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake posted: “This is a dark moment in the history of our Nation. The Radical Left and their weaponized criminal justice system have crossed all legal & ethical lines in an attempt to destroy the 45th & 47th President of the United State of America Donald J. Trump. It only makes him stronger.”

Author Glenn Beck went scorched earth on Democrats for their attack on Trump, saying that this “is not going to end well” for the party come next election.

Friday morning, Trump posted a video on his Truth Social account of a FOX segment where host Tomi Lahren declared that this indictment made the former president  “stronger” and guaranteed a 2024 republican nomination.

Following a grand jury’s vote to indict Trump, the Manhattan district attorney’s office asked him to surrender on Friday. However, Trump’s legal team rejected the request, stating that the Secret Service needed more time to prepare for the former president’s security detail.

The indictment of Donald Trump is sure to be one of the most significant legal developments of the year, as it is yet another example of the deep-seated animosity that exists between Trump and his political opponents. Seeing the Democrats use the justice system as a weapon to go after political opponents is unfortunately the terrifying reality we are living in, and we must not let down the fight if we want to work to take our country back and save it from further becoming a banana republic.
