According to Federal Election Commission records, a super PAC linked to former President Donald Trump has spent millions of dollars on ads attacking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

As revealed in a filing on Friday, Make America Great Again spent $1.5 million on Friday to oppose “Ronald Dion DeSantis.” Alexandria-based Multi Media Services received the funds.

Trump’s super PAC is run by top aides and receives campaign funds from his campaign, though it will operate independently now that he will run for president in 2024. At the end of last year, the MAGA committee had $54 million on hand.

While DeSantis has not declared his presidential candidacy, the attack on the governor does not go unnoticed.

The ad accuses DeSantis of voting to cut Social Security and Medicare when he was in Congress.

CNN and Fox News will air the ad, according to AdImpact.

Although DeSantis now says he would leave those entitlement programs alone, he voted on non-binding resolutions to raise retirement ages and reduce benefits in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

According to budget projections, Medicare and Social Security could be insolvent in the next decade if reforms are not made. To prevent the prospect of young people not being able to receive any benefits, both parties agree that hard choices must be made.
