It’s the end of an era, folks – Bud Light sales are plummeting, and it’s all because of a disastrous partnership with an unpopular influencer. Conservative beer drinkers are up in arms, feeling neglected and betrayed by the once-beloved brand. As a result, rival beer company Molson Coors is cleaning up, snatching up market share left and right. It’s a true beer apocalypse – and it’s all thanks to one ill-advised decision. Is there any hope for Bud Light’s redemption, or is it too late? Only time will tell.
A backlash against the partnership has ignited, and bar owners and distributors have reported a sharp drop in Bud Light sales over the past week.
Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser Busch Inbev, recently announced its partnership with a 26-year-old ‘influencer’ Dylan Mulvaney, a decision that has caused a sudden and sharp decline in sales.
The company’s stock has tanked, losing more than $6 billion in market cap since the partnership was announced, taking Bud Light’s parent company from a three-year high to a five percent drop in just six days.
This catastrophic failure has been attributed to senior members of the organization who seem to be uninformed when it comes to this disastrous decision.
The backlash against the company has not been limited to just consumers angered by the influencer choice. Reports indicate that senior members of the company had no idea about the ad campaign featuring Mulvaney. Instead, the decision to include Mulvaney in the campaign was reportedly made by a low-level marketing staffer. In spite of this, the company’s VP of marketing touted her mandate for making the brand more inclusive.
This lack of oversight on such a critical issue has directly cost the company $5 billion in market value.
As a result of this senseless decision, conservative consumers are now boycotting the once-popular beverage. It has become clear that Bud Light is no longer catering to the right-leaning individuals that make up a vast majority of its consumer base.
Meanwhile, competitor Molson Coors (TAP) has seen a $350 million increase in its market cap over the last week, partly due to Bud Light’s misstep. Conservative beer lovers are now flocking to other brands, such as Coors Light, which has long been known for its commitment to rock-solid conservative values.
The decision to partner with such an unpopular influencer and promote progressive ideas over conservative values has not only directly cost the company but also caused massive losses in revenue for bar owners and distributors. Many have reported the sudden downturn in Bud Light sales, with customers opting to purchase other brands with traditional American values.
One beer merchandiser stated that they have never witnessed such a low volume of sales as in the past few days. Their income is now insufficient to support their family due to the sudden and significant decrease in Bud Light sales.
John Rich, the country music singer and owner of Redneck Riviera bar in Nashville, TN, stated that Bud Light used to be their top selling beer until recently. They have numerous cases of unsold Bud Light, indicating the sharp decline in its popularity.
The backlash against the company has been so intense that even Clydesdale horses have been affected. A distributor in Missouri has recently canceled an event with the company’s famous Clydesdale horses, indicating a dangerous future for the once-popular beverage company.
Meanwhile, the gender-lobby is supportive of Mulvaney, who has received advertisements from popular companies such as Nike, Oil of Olay, and others.
Bud Light has misstepped badly, and the resulting backlash should serve as a warning to all businesses that seek to promote ideas at the cost of their customers. Conservative Americans are the lifeblood of this country, and any attempts to disrespect or marginalize them will inevitably lead to the downfall of any brand- including one as prominent as Bud Light. It’s time for people to take a stand and say no to ideas that seek to destroy our nation’s conservative values. Consumers have the power to send a strong message to corporations that they will not support companies that disrespect their values. It’s time for Bud Light executives to listen to the American people and reconsider their policies. Until then, it is up to us to boycott Bud Light and show them that America’s conservative values cannot be bought or silenced.
