Nashville Metro Council Decides the Fate of Expelled Democrat Representative

The Nashville Metro Council has made a decision that could shake up the political landscape of Tennessee. The fate of a recently expelled Democrat representative was on the line, and the decision could have far-reaching implications for the future of democracy in the state. According to the Associated Press, the Nashville Metro City Council unanimously voted on Monday to reinstate State Representative Justin Jones (D-Nashville) to the Tennessee House of Representatives.

Last week, he and another Democrat representative were expelled after commandeering the House Floor to demand gun control in the wake of the Covenant Presbyterian School shooting three days earlier.

Following the Metro Council’s vote, Jones and a large group of protesters organized by Democrat non-profits marched several blocks to the Capitol.

Supporters cheered as he took the oath of office on the steps of the building.

Standing on the steps of the state Capitol, Jones stated, “Today we’re sending a resounding message that democracy will not be killed in the comfort of silence.”

Calling him an “enemy of democracy,” Jones also called on Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville) to resign.

A few moments later, Jones walked into the chamber with Democratic Representative Gloria Johnson (D-Knoxville), who had also been threatened with expulsion, but ended up not being expelled.

A joint statement released by the Tennessee House Majority Leader and Tennessee Republican Caucus Chairman prior to Monday’s vote said they welcome “any” reinstated lawmakers back into the chamber.

The decision made by the Nashville Metro Council is a slap in the face to all of America and sets a dangerous precedent for future cases of mob violence. The decision is nothing more than an ideological conspiracy and an insult to the thousands of law-abiding citizens who uphold democracy and patriotism. The Tennessee Democrats have shown their true colors, and the voters will not forget this shameless display of treachery when the time comes to exercise their right at the polls. It’s simple – actions have consequences. However, Democrats everywhere seem to not comprehend this.
