Disgraced Homeland Security Chief Calls Out Border Governor’s Actions to Protect Border

The Biden administration’s immigration policy has been exposed as a complete failure, as Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott took bold action to protect his state from the flood of illegal migrants crossing the border. For doing so, instead of being praised or lended help by the Biden Administration he has been met with disdain.

The busing of migrants from the U.S.-Mexico border to Vice President Kamala Harris’ home and the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. by Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott has sparked a heated political debate. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has condemned the move.

Abbott began busing migrants in April 2022 when the Trump-era immigration policy, Title 42, was initially set to expire.

Since April, nearly 9,400 migrants have been bussed to D.C. from Texas, according to the Washington Post. The governor first dropped off 24 migrants in front of the NBC News and Fox News building in Washington, D.C on April 13, 2022. He proceeded to drop off 14 more migrants the following day and a third bus reportedly dropped off 30 migrants. In September, two busloads of illegal migrants arrived at Harris’ home in D.C. from Eagle Pass, Texas, followed by at least two more buses carrying over two dozens of migrants in October.

On Wednesday night, KHQA reported that a group of 50 migrants arrived at Kamala Harris’ home. Another bus of migrants arrived at the Naval Observatory Thursday morning under the authority of Abbott.

Democratic leaders have criticized Abbott’s actions, arguing that it’s a political stunt that is inhumane and cruel to migrants. They have called on the governor to find more humane solutions to the border crisis, such as increasing resources to immigration agencies and creating a pathway to citizenship for undocumented migrants.

Abbott’s actions have also faced legal challenges. In May, Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot sent a letter to Abbott, urging him to stop bussing migrants to her city. She argued that the move was unconstitutional and would put undue strain on local resources. Abbott responded by threatening to sue the Biden administration if it does not secure the border.

While the human rights groups are concerned about the safety and treatment of the migrants, some Republican lawmakers argue that the border crisis is being mishandled by the Democratic administration. Regardless, the situation remains a thorny political issue that has yet to be resolved. If Mayorkas wants to stop Abbott from his actions because of how wrong it is, all he has to do is do his jobs and the problem will be solved.
