 It’s a national disgrace that America’s brave veterans have been abandoned once again, this time right in our own backyard in Upstate New York. These brave men and women put their lives on the line to defend our country and all that it stands for, yet they’re being pushed aside to make way for people who have done nothing to contribute to the land of the free, except to infiltrate her. Unacceptable!

The situation involving the displacement of homeless veterans in Upstate New York to make room for migrants is a complicated one, with various perspectives and opinions. While some argue that the move was necessary to alleviate the overcrowding of migrant facilities in New York City, others see it as an unfair and disrespectful treatment of the brave men and women who have served our country.

According to the New York Post, nearly two dozen homeless veterans were kicked out of the Crossroads Hotel in Newburgh, New York, to make room for the migrants. The veterans were part of a temporary housing program organized by the Yerik Israel Toney Foundation, a nonprofit agency that aims to assist veterans in need. The veterans were given shelter in the hotel for four weeks while the agency searched for a more permanent housing solution. However, they were forced to move out after only two weeks to make room for the migrants.

Here is New York state Rep. Brian Maher explain the disgraceful move. 

Sharon Toney-Finch, the CEO of the Yerik Israel Toney Foundation, said that the veterans were moved to other nearby motels and hotels. She also explained that the displacement was due to the city’s decision to bus migrants to Upstate New York to ease the overcrowding in its own facilities. While this move was intended to help alleviate the situation, it has had unintended consequences for the homeless veterans who were already in need of assistance.

Even Democrat Congressman Pat Ryan has also spoken out against the treatment of the homeless veterans, calling it a clear example of the incompetence of city officials. He has emphasized the need for better planning and communication to ensure that vulnerable populations are not negatively impacted by policy decisions.

In contrast, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has defended the decision to bus migrants to Upstate New York, stating that it was a necessary move to address the overcrowding in the city’s facilities. He has also emphasized the importance of working together to find solutions that benefit both migrants and veterans.

The CEO of the Yerik Israel Toney Foundation believes expelling veterans was a matter of money for the hotel. The hotel gets paid more for taking in migrants compared to the $88 a day the small non-profit pays to house the veterans.

This incident should serve as a wake-up call for p officials to prioritize the welfare of veterans and address the border crisis at our doorstep. It is time for the government to take action and ensure that war heroes do not end up on the streets while illegal immigrants get first class treatment. The move to expel homeless veterans to make way for migrants is unacceptable, and it is important that steps are taken to prevent such incidents from happening again. We urge officials to show respect towards veterans and work towards finding a solution to the ongoing migrant crisis in the US.
